REFLECTIONS OF THE BOSSCHE STADSDELTA _ A FOLLY ROUTE
Graduation Design by Merle Ebskamp (2020-2021). Although this website gives a visual impression of the project, it does not depict the full meaning. Please reach out for questions or more information.
The Bossche Stadsdelta is the name of an area in 's-Hertogenbosch that will be developed in the coming years. However, the physical separation by water and the lack of a shared identity means that the area cannot be experienced as a whole. The public space is now, and in current plans, a 'leftover' space. By doing experiments in the area, I discovered many existing and potential qualities. A folly route is introduced to utilise and strengthen the qualities. Follies as ornaments of the Bossche Stadsdelta, which are born from what is already there. They strengthen existing qualities and are open to changing human activities and initiatives. The follies are interconnected by sight lines and a shared architectural language. Together they give locals and visitors the opportunity to move around the area, stopping along the way for a moment of reflection. All in all, to experience the Bossche Stadsdelta as a whole and give space to changing activities and connect social programming.
